Depeche Mode in
Summer Lovers

Yet another forgettable film, notable for us for the simple reason that this is the first film that a included a Depeche Mode song in the soundtrack. From the IMDB we get the summary: two young lovers arrive in Santorini, Greece. They quickly find that their eyes wander to another woman who they find time to include in their nocturnal activities.

The most inspired acting in the film comes from the land, which has beautiful view and incredible villas. Did I mention the topless beaches?

The story line would fit in well with the soft-core short films that are shown on some cable channels.

A couple of choice quotes:

"People are like gas.. they expand to fill the sapce they are in. When there is not enough space, there is pressure."

"Since I gave up tarrot cards, I've had very accurate fortune cookies."

Mode's earliest hit song "Just Can't Get Enough" comes in the film quite early, at the 13' 36'' mark as an extra walks by with a large radio on his shoulder. A little bit of the chorus and a bit more of the bridge and the film heads off to the unveiling of the increasing infedelity of the guy, the obliviousness of the girl and the additional topless and nude swimming scenes. The soundtrack is available on 12" vinyl.

Think of it this way... you should send me a donation because I've saved you from having to watch this.

Thanks to Sylvie Lacaille for posting about the movie and to BRAT for identifying it.
