This is a House Bill 2702 that was approved by the State of Oregon:
Relating to written documents produced by agencies of state government.
(2) Every agency of state government shall ensure that written documents produced by the agency for purposes of communicating with the public, whether presented on paper or through electronic media, conform to plain language standards.
It seems almost… revolutionary! Good on Oregon. Washington’s governor did something similar, (by fiat) last year. However, the Oregon was bill was approved by the House, Senate, and the Governor. I can’t help but think that this might be the way to start making everything more accessible to the layman. At the very least it’s a start.

With all of the hype surrounding hybrid vehicles today, I thought I’d do some research and post my findings on the next generation of fully electric and plug-in hybrids. The fully-electric EV has had a bad name in the past, mostly due to insufficient battery technology, politics, lack of performance models and other factors. Starting this year with the Tesla Roadster, the EV is going to take on a new form in the eyes of John Q Public. Quiet, efficient EVs will start to become commonplace in the next few years as major manufacturers go into production with the newest generation of vehicle sporting more powerful motors, efficient generators and the latest battery technology.
I’ve been taking care of the OEVA’s web site and have a news stream showing up on it. This came in recently. I don’t normally point to articles about pre-production vehicles, simply because they are often so much vapormobiles. But this seemed in-depth enough to warrant a link.

Yeah, I know that Rocco’s Pizza has always been there since 1993 (before that it was another pizza joint which was really cool.) but there was a dark period where Rocco’s tried to open 4 additional locations in the space of 18 months, convert into an ‘Internet Cafe and Pizza’-style dot-com play, and totally changed their pizza to something akin to a platter of tomato sauce and a pinch of cheese with ‘essence’ of toppings.
I’m sure that they’ve been better for a while now, but it was only last week when I had lunch downtown that I took a chance on seeing what the ‘zza was like now. Holy Cow!
It’s delicious! It’s so much better, in fact I think it’s right back to the original style that I knew and loved when I worked downtown at Creative Multimedia in the mid 90’s. Amy and I got a large pizza last night (too large!) and it was sooooooo good! i’m looking forward to digging into the cheese and meat and the beautiful crust for the next few days.
Upgrading my WordPress install to latest. First time in 2.5 years
I’ve just finally upgraded this to WordPress 2.something from the 1.oldversion that I was using since 2005. I’m sure I had missed lots of improvements on the Admin side, but I’m hoping that you won’t see any changes from the public side of things.
Let’s see… I can finally mark something off my to do list that’s been there for… 2.5 years. Nice.
